It's Just a Jump to the Left bookWhen I first saw this book advertised I thought it was an April 1st gag worthy of us. Unfortunately the author seems to be serious.

Subtitled 'The unauthorized guide to occult symbolism in the Rocky Horror Picture Show', it is a hilarious wander through the mind of a religious conspiracy theorist. Isaac Weishaupt spends 115 tedious pages making wonderfully tenuous links between RHPS and a pathway to hell. His special thanks page is all you need to read to get an insight into motivations for this book.

Reading this as a Rocky fan is rather like being trolled on the internet, but by choice.

The author uses a mixture of Christian, Hebrew and Egyptian texts to 'justify' his theories, never letting facts get in the way. He also uses numeracy, the last refuge of the deluded, to 'prove' their ideas. There are even references to Hitler (of course there are). Apparently it's all got something to do with the "Illuminati", which I thought was a lighting shop in Croydon.

He does get many of the facts he bases his claims on wrong, including saying that the skeleton in the clock in RHPS is the woman that commissioned it. Actually she had it made to put the skeleton of her dead husband in and it is also been told that she did the same for her second husband.

The book uses the copyrighted 'lips' image on it's cover, not sure how the lawyers at 20th Century Fox will take to that, but that's his potential problem.

The worst RHPS book I have seen in my life! (and you may quote me on that Isaac) . Don't waste your money on a copy unless you are a completist, even then wait until it's a couple of quid in the reduced bin.

ISBN 9781530392469
(And applying his numeracy method that would work out at 9+7+8+1+5+3+0+3+9+2+4+6+9 = 66, 6+6=12, 1+2=3. So the hidden meaning in the ISBN number is 3, which is around the number of people that would actually read this without bursting out with laughter every other page.)
