Behind the Curtain My Life And Rocky Horror
by Martin Fitzgibbon |
From Martin Fitzgibbon the original drummer at the Rocky Horror Show, a behind the scenes look at the show, and so much more.
I started reading the book from my perspective of a fan of the show, hoping to gain some more insights of how my favourite obsession came into being. I expected to read this over a few days, picking it up when I had a spare moment but that changed to reading it through in one sitting.
It's a lot more than details about the show, although there is a wealth of information about that including some lovely new information about the origins of the original production. Martin takes us on a journey through the time he spent with the show and also his life since, both in and out of the music world. He also gives us an understanding of how his childhood and upbringing influenced his path to today.
I enjoyed reading a chapter about Rocky Horror followed by a little bit of background information which would either explain the context of what you had just read or set you up for the next chapter. I also loved hearing familiar tales of the early days of the show, but written from Martin's perspective. He's very diplomatic explaining how his recollection may differ from that of others.
I enjoyed the book and found the style of writing kept me interested to keep reading, as I said I finished it in one sitting albeit several hours and a few cups of tea (read the book and you will see why tea is important).
Recommended!
