The West End Flea Market is an event held to raise money for the Acting for Others' charity.
This year's Flea Market took place on Saturday 20th May at St Paul's Church and Churchyard, Covent Garden and featured dozens of stalls from many West End shows as well as general memorabilia stalls and events including Su Pollard fortune telling and Christopher Biggins running a "Biggins Bargains" competition. There was also autograph sessions and loads of folks dressed up to support the charity.
Stephanie and I travelled up from Kent and met up with our friend Selina to check out the event and catch up. We'd got there are little later than planned as the event kicked off at 10am and we arrived at noon. Selina told us she was there when it opened and it had been really crowed then. As it was very busy when we arrived, it was probably a good thing the rail replacement bus delayed us by an hour and a half.
There were dozens of stalls at the event, but obviously we made a beeline for The Rocky Horror Show stall to see what was on offer. They had a great selection of signed merchandise as well as one or two props, such as cocktail mixers and ray guns, that were being sold. A few of the cast we in attendance as well and it was nice to have a catch up chat and see how they were getting on. We'd got there a couple of hours after the event opened, but they had already had to make a supply run back to the theatre to pick up more mechandise as it was all selling so well. They were also running a raffle to win more goodies (no we didn't manage to win anything).
We bumped into a few other Rocky fans at the event and it was certainly well worth the trip to get some more merchandise and enjoy the costumes, stalls and general good vibe of the day.
