The UK Transylvania Conventions have a unique place in Rocky Horror history. Organised by TimeWarp the Official UK Rocky Horror Fan Club with each event attended by over five hundred Rocky Horror Fans from around the world. The first Transylvania Convention took place on Halloween, 1992 and was followed just two years later by Transylvania 1994, with our third and biggest Convention taking place on Saturday, 30th October, 1999 at the H.G. Wells Suite in Woking, Surrey. Select a year from the menu above for more information.

GriffinTransylvania 4 is on the back-burner until we win the lottery! We now run an annual get-together (which is not a Convention as such), The Rocky Horror Picnic Show. This event takes place at the original Frankenstein place (and home of our original model for the Transylvania Convention's logo) Oakley Court. We showed the movie at the 2006 event and every year since, so we were all watching the outside of the house we were in while we watched the movie, weird or what? The first film screening was even introduced by Richard O'Brien himself! 2006 & 2007 saw around fifty of us at the picnic and we had 75 attendees for 2008 and 64 for 2009. The Picnic for 2010 had an amazing 83 people booked, with more turned away as the hotel ran out of rooms. We had 200 people there one year, but now limit it to 140ish as it got too big an event. You can read much more on the main timewarp.org.uk site.

Guests at the Transylvania Conventions included Richard O'Brien and Patricia Quinn attending all three events, Sue Blane, Perry Bedden, Christopher Biggins, Yasmin Pettigrew, Pam Obermeyer and from the Stage Show productions, Rayner Bourton, Anthony Head, Aiden Bell, Peter Gallagher, Joanne Redman, Howard Samuels, Stephen Theibault, Kraig Thornber, Ross O'Hennessy, Laurie Brett, Georgie Hayes, Dave Webb, Kate O'Sullivan and Zalie Burrow. We also had the wonderful Sal Piro, President of the International Rocky Horror Picture Show Fan Club as a guest at each Convention. Each Convention was attended by over 500 Rocky Horror fans more than any other UK Conventions. The first two Conventions were also well documented in the Creatures of the Night Rocky Horror books.

Fans from the United Kingdom (that's England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland for those of you who don't know!) and around the world travelled to each of the Transylvania Conventions. Attendees travelled from as far afield as the United States, Japan, Australia, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Austria and Israel to make the events a truly international affair. We screened actual 35mm prints of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at each event as well as video/35mm screenings of Shock Treatment. All the Conventions were run on a not-for-profit basis and we managed to raise over £1,000 at each of the events for our chosen Charity through our raffles and merchandise sales.
