Rocky Horror Fitness Show DVD One for the collectors only I think!

Kevin sent us a copy of this DVD he was sent from Japan. We've seen some strange things over the years but this one is a classic, a whole exercise programme based on The Rocky Horror Picture Show songs and I use the term 'based' on purpose.

When we finally persuaded the disc to play on our multi-region DVD deck (wouldn't work on the PC whatever I set the region to!) we found that there is no footage of the movie whatsoever, just some very bad versions of the songs with a Japanese narration. There are also no subtitles, so we're not sure what they are actually saying on the disc. The basic theme seems to be set exercises to each song, although they do seem to have the Time Warp backwards (either that of you are meant to do the steps in a mirror?).

For those of you that know me, you'll know I used to do martial-arts back in my youth and I know a little about warming-up/warming-down exercises. No way would I go straight into some of the routines shown on the disc, I'd do myself serious damage if I tried! Then again, for all I know the Narrator could be advising that you do a warm-up first, I wish the disc at least came with subtitles. Fitness Show DVD As far as extras go, there is nothing, zip, not even the usual adverts for other DVD's. Menu options are restricted to a 'Play' and chapter points for each song/routine.

Try as we might we can't find a copy of this on any of the Amazon sites. Kevin says his one was sent from his Portuguese pen pal Tolo de Arpil from a recent visit to Tokyo. There was one on ebay, but the listing expired nearly a year ago so that's a dead end. We've sent the copy used for the review back, but we are still on the look out for our own copy, if you see one do let us know.

We heard from Kev after we sent the disc back that he's found an "easter egg" special feature. Richard O'Brien himself doing the Time Warp at Oakley Court with the Japanese narration over the top. I can see the advert now...."Yes, you too can have a body like Richard O'Brien just by following this DVD", maybe it sounds better in Japanese.
