John rose to fame in his role as Billy Corkhill in Brookside in the early 1980’s. since then, his TV experience has included DC Corbyn in The Chief; Cracker; Wycliffe; Heartbeat; Kavanagh QC; Prime Suspect V; Casualty; City Central; Holby City; Where The Heart Is; Peak Practice; Merseybeat ( series 2-3 for which he won 2002 best actor award from the royal Television society); Dalzell & Pascoe; Foyles War and Blue Murder. Most recently he plated Commander Ian Barrett in The Bill.

Recent theatre credits include: The Arbor (national theatre studios); The Proctor in The Crucible (Sheffield crucible); Ravaging Beauties (Liverpool Playhouse); To (Bolton octagon/young Vic Edinburgh Festival); Bouncers (Liverpool Everyman); Bin Women and the Copper Belt Cowboys ( Oldham Coliseum); Banquo in Macbeth and Eddy in Stags And Hens ( both Chester Gateway; Late night another soldier, you’ll never walk alone, and Infirmary Tales ( all Liverpool Everyman).

He has also appeared in several films, most recently Through My Eyes; Function at the Junction; Rough Aunty and There’s Only One Jimmy Grimble for Pathe Films.
